Chelsea have reportedly started contract talks with their star Kurt Zouma – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are excited about the speculation.
French media outlet Le10 Sport reports that Frank Lampard’s side are having ongoing discussions with Zouma’s representatives about a possible fresh deal at Stamford Bridge.
The French defender has retuned to the Blues first-team after spending the last two consecutive seasons out on loan and looks back to his very best.
Zouma is performing once again in the Chelsea side after a serious knee injury back in 2016 and is beginning to live up to his potential.
The 25-year-old has been a mainstay in Lampard’s team so far this season by playing in 29 matches across all competitions and has been a powerhouse in defence.
He’s a no-nonsense centre-back that is dominant in the air and also has great speed plus athleticism.
There was a time he looked fairly settled alongside rising talent Fikayo Tomori, but a new combination next to Antonio Rudiger is now beginning to blossom too.
Some Chelsea fans are fully behind a new deal for Zouma, who they feel continues to get better and is deserving of it.
He’s still under contract until 2023, so a new deal would show real intent from manager Lampard.
