Chelsea’s Levi Colwill earned just his third England cap on Tuesday night during their Nations League win over Finland.
England recorded a routine 2-0 home victory against Finland at Wembley Stadium, with Harry Kane scoring twice on his 100th cap for his country.
Incidentally, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke marked his senior international debut by coming off the bench and assisting Kane’s second goal. England’s interim manager Lee Carsley praised Madueke after his eye-catching debut.
As for Levi Colwill, he’s had a productive international break by featuring twice for his country. He played 90 minutes at left-back in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Republic of Ireland, plus he came off the bench in his conventional centre-back position for the final half an hour versus Finland.

Chelsea fans so impressed by Levi Colwill
Many Chelsea supporters on social media loved the cameo performance from Colwill in England colours this week. In particular, the 21-year-old centre-half received massive praise for his ball-playing qualities when passing out from defence.
Here are some Blues fans on X raving about Colwill’s passing qualities…
One fan said: “Colwill is too good. Passing is insane.”
Another wrote: “Levi Colwill’s passing is so elite.”
A third user shared: “The way Colwill is zipping passes into the midfield and final third recently has been top class. Long may it continue.”
One supporter posted: “You press Colwill, and he pulls your press apart with a single pass.”
Another claimed: “Colwill vs Finland, did he make any backward or sideway passes? All his passes went forward!”
Levi Colwill stats against Finland
FotMob data has provided the individual statistics from Colwill’s impressive England display at home to Finland:
- Minutes played – 29
- Match rating – 6.9
- Touches – 43
- Accurate passes – 39/40 (98%)
- Passes into final third – 7
- Accurate long balls – 2/2 (100%)
- Tackles won – 1/1 (100%)

As you can see above, Colwill put on a bit of a passing clinic when he entered the action for an injured Ezri Konsa. It was at a time when Finland were burning out of energy after a resilient effort at Wembley Stadium, but it was still super impressive from Chelsea’s central defender.
It’s easy to see why Colwill has quickly become a key starter under Blues head coach Enzo Maresca because of his passing quality.
