Chelsea fans suggest Billy Gilmour is involved against Tottenham

Chelsea host Tottenham on Saturday afternoon in a pivotal Premier League fixture – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have claimed they want to see Billy Gilmour involved.

The Blues go into the weekend sat fourth in the league table, but they are only a point above opponents Spurs as well as having Sheffield United and Manchester United hot in their heels.

Frank Lampard’s side desperately need to regain some form after earning two points from the last four league games and need to keep their top four bid in their own hands.

There is also the small matter of a Champions League tie with Bayern Munich just around the corner and a win against Spurs would be ideal preparation for that.

Gilmour, 18, has been promoted as a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge recently and has made five senior appearances this season across all competitions.

The Scottish midfielder is a deep-lying playmaker that has looked the part during his brief senior games, but is yet to start a league fixture.

He wasn’t involved in the 18-man squad for the defeat to Manchester United on Monday, but senior midfielder N’Golo Kante did sustain an injury while some other teammates struggled.

It certainly seems a long shout that Lampard could turn to inexperienced youngster Gilmour against Spurs, but a selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are adamant he could cope.
