Chelsea fans have already told Enzo Maresca one team selection he needs to make for the upcoming game against Liverpool.

Now that the international break has come to an end, the Chelsea squad is fully back together to prepare for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Blues have made a positive start to the season in the opening months under Enzo Maresca, so they go into the weekend fourth in the league table. However, opponents Liverpool are the early pacesetters at the top after winning six of their first seven matches under Arne Slot.

Chelsea have been working on playing out from the back in training, so let’s see if they can cut out the defensive errors that have popped up recently.

Chelsea fans want Christopher Nkunku starting vs Liverpool

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have stated they’d love to see Christopher Nkunku included in the starting XI versus Liverpool this weekend.

The £52m attacker (Sky Sports) has struggled for starts this season, starting only one Premier League match so far, but he’s proven in cup competitions he’s clinical in front of goal.

Here are some Blues fans on X discussing Nkunku:

@mbuotidemusua wrote: “I will start Nkunku. We’re playing Liverpool and if you don’t take your chances when you get them, you can be punished.”

@govmilli said: “Maresca please start Nkunku over Jackson against Liverpool. I beg.”

@jaredadebayo_ posted: “Nkunku needs to start if we are to win this match and take those chances.”

@AcretionDisc2 claimed: “Liverpool, I would go with Nkunku [to start]. His record for speaks for itself already.”

@DegemaLucky shared: “I would prefer Nkunku to start. Jackson cannot cope with Liverpool’s powerful defenders.”

Christopher Nkunku on fire this season

Nkunku may be playing second fiddle to Chelsea teammate Nicolas Jackson in the Premier League right now, but he’s still been able to make an incredible impact this season. So far, the French attacker has scored seven goals in 11 appearances across all competitions this campaign.

It was a frustrating debut campaign for him last year with the Blues that was stop-start because of injuries, but now he’s fit and desperate to get on the pitch.

We’d argue that Nkunku might be the most natural finisher within the entire Chelsea squad. Therefore, we support the logic of getting him on the pitch if things are tight against Liverpool.

He’ll be buoyed by scoring his first senior goal for the France national side during the international window, so it’ll be intriguing to see if he gets a rare league start at Anfield.
