Chelsea welcome French side Rennes to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night for a European tie – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter in the build-up to the fixture have urged manager Frank Lampard to recall Olivier Giroud to the starting XI.
The Blues host Rennes for a Champions League group stage match, having earned four points from the first two games of the competition.
Chelsea have a quick turnaround after the Rennes game for Sheffield United in the Premier League, which is why surely the temptation is there to make some changes and introduce some fresh legs.
Lampard appears to be edging closer to finding his best side and it was arguably the performance of the season so far last weekend against Burnley in the league, but the squad is certainly needed during a busy fixture schedule.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have stated they would love to see Giroud recalled against Rennes and he’s somebody that will be fresher than most.
Giroud, 34, has made just four appearances so far this campaign and his only start was in the League Cup against Tottenham.
The left-footed striker has had to be extremely patient waiting for his opportunity, with the duo Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham preferred right now.
He was used as a substitute in the recent victory against Burnley and had a goal disallowed for offside, but there is no doubt he’s still a top talent and he’s likely to be starring for France in the upcoming international break.
