Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has enjoyed a relatively successful international break as part of the France U21 squad.

His side picked up two big wins against Denmark and Slovenia, with him assisting a goal in the latter victory.

He set up Bradley Barcola for the third goal of the game, with the winger being strongly linked with his own move to Chelsea before he eventually moved to PSG.

The two victories and starts have been added to what has actually been quite an impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge for the right-back.

With Reece James going down to an injury early in the campaign, he was called upon to be the starter far sooner than he perhaps will have been expecting.

He has taken this with both hands though, showing his skills in both the attacking and defensive sense up to now.

After the conclusion of his final international game, he took to Twitter to post that he was ready to return ‘home’.

He said: “Had a blast with the squad, excited to head back home now.”

Normally, it is only the Cobham graduates who form this affection with Stamford Bridge at such an early stage of their career.

Reece James frequently describes the West London stadium as his home, and he is pushing for a return ahead of the next Premier League game against Bournemouth.

This could see the end of Gusto’s time as a regular starter for the club, although he has already shown he will be pushing for minutes up against the England international.
