The Premier League have announced that Stuart Attwell will officiate Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture against Leeds United.

Paul Tierney will be in charge of VAR for the fixture, with there no doubt being a lot of discussions over who would run proceedings for the Blues’ next game, following their matchup with Tottenham which was officiated by Anthony Taylor.

In what was the first clash of the season between any recognised members of the ‘big six’, Chelsea were the dominant side across the 90 minutes as they looked a make a statement early in the campaign.

They took the lead twice through fantastic goals from Kalidou Koulibaly and Reece James, however twice were pegged back in the second half in controversial fashion.

Kai Havertz was seemingly fouled less than a minute before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg struck home the visitors’ first, with Richarlison seemingly impacting Edouard Mendy’s vision of the shot from an offside position.

This also saw the first blow up between Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte, with them also clashing again at full-time.

To add to the anger of everyone Chelsea related, Taylor and Mike Dean on VAR failed to either notice or send off Cristian Romero for a hair pull on Marc Cucurella. The resulting corner saw Harry Kane head home with seconds to play.

The list of incidents where the particular official has gone against the Blues is stacking up, and becoming something the first team squad are beginning to notice as well as the supporters.

Despite it being claimed Taylor will not be taken off the club’s games at the request of the Blues, supporters will no doubt be relieved that he was not chosen to officiate the club again just yet. However, it seems they won’t be so lucky in the long run.
