Reports from Italy have claimed that Chelsea are now in the hunt to sign one of the most promising youngsters in world football.

This has seen a number of extremely promising players commit their future to the club in the last two seasons, including Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington.

It has been reported since the January transfer window closed that they were considering dipping back into the youth market at the end of this season.

Chris Rigg is one of the most promising youngsters in England, with Chelsea already being mentioned as a potential home for the Sunderland man.

Chelsea interested in Thalys

Now though, it has been claimed that they are looking to Brazil as they have done so often for youngsters, inserting themselves into the race for Thalys.

The report states Palmeiras are holding out for a fee of £34m, with a number of elite sides interested in a deal.

It went on to say Manchester United and Manchester City were two clubs from the Premier League who are interested in a deal, with fellow giants Barcelona and Real Madrid also closely monitoring.

With the player being described as one with ‘great potential’, it is a deal many at the club will likely be keen to do.

There will be some though who will have their mind on the present day first team squad, and looking to bring in a player or two who can make an immediate impact on the first team squad at Stamford Bridge.
