Chelsea ‘have been informed’ about the chance to sign ‘quality’ striker this month, his club are happy to sell

A new striker would be near the top of many Chelsea fans’ list of transfer targets before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

Some guilt-edge chances have gone begging for the Blues of late, and this has seen Enzo Maresca’s side drop from second to sixth in the Premier League.

Nicolas Jackson has really gone off the boil of late, and there is clearly not enough confidence in Christopher Nkunku to lead the line on a regular basis.

The Blues were linked with the signing of Jhon Duran, however he is now set for a move to the Saudi Pro League to join Al Nassr.

Chelsea informed of Victor Boniface’s situation in final days of January window

As a result of this, their proposed move to bring in Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen has collapsed, despite a fee reportedly already being agreed.

It remains to be seen if a move is still possible for the Nigerian international in this transfer window, although it seems as if a number of top sides have been made aware of his situation.

One of those is Chelsea, with Graeme Bailey exclusively telling The Chelsea Chronicle that news of him no longer moving to Saudi Arabia could spark interest from the Blues.

He said: “Chelsea are one of the ones who have been informed of the situation, so we’ll see. For this month, it looks tough, it will cost a lot of money, but he’s a good age, good player.

“We’ll have to see. It might ignite some interest there. Quite a few Premier League clubs have been made aware of his situation.”

‘Quality’ Victor Boniface’s stats

Despite starting the season as a regular starter for Leverkusen, injuries kept him absent from a run of eight successive wins in the Bundesliga.

Even after missing the majority of the campaign, he still boasts an impressive goal record in the time he has been present.

Boniface has been desrcibed as ‘quality’ by teammate Granit Xhaka, and would certainly bring goals if he was to move in the final days of this month.

A striker addition looks set to be one that supporters will have to wait until the summer to see sorted, with a number of other names also on the list as far as potential signings go.
