Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his Twitter that Chelsea have opened official talks with Sevilla for the potential transfer of Jules Kounde.
Romano stated Kounde is the Blues priority signing in terms of centre-backs this summer.
The transfer guru went on to say that the young defender is ‘open to accept’ Stamford Bridge as his next destination as he wants Champions League football this season.

Talk of Sevilla’s sort after Frenchman making a move to the Premier League has been an ongoing saga this year.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the 22-year-old, although those ties are seemingly all but severed now.
Kounde’s name has also come up in conversation within Chelsea’s circles, as they aim to bolster their back-line.
Now, it appears the Blues have seriously stepped up their efforts to sign the La Liga star.

Of course, they have one thing Spurs cannot offer him: European football.
Well, that’s not strictly true.
Tottenham will feature in the Europa Conference League, a slightly less glamourous version of its glitzy counterparts.
Thomas Tuchel’s squad can however present Kounde with domestic football’s grandest competition.

Not to mention entering the tournament as the current holders.
Add a few more quality players to their ranks and Chelsea could well be challenging for Manchester City’s English crown as well.
Although Kounde wouldn’t be the final piece of the puzzle, he’d certainly start bringing the whole picture together.
