Journalist Sebastien Denis has claimed that Chelsea have a new opportunity to sign one player in January for a lot cheaper than they did in the summer.

He took to Twitter to state that Rayan Cherki is available for just £17m, with the Blues so far yet to return to the scene.

The Blues reportedly had Cherki on their list as a potential attacker to bring in over the summer, with many claiming they were going to make a move.

He was one of a number of names on their list though, with them also reportedly triggering a clause in Michael Olise’s contract to sign him from Crystal Palace.

However, he has since signed a new deal at Selhurst Park, and is beginning to make his return to fitness.

The player the Blues ended up with is certainly the top performer though, with them ending up signing Cole Palmer on deadline day instead.

Cherki available for cheap

It is not yet clear if Chelsea will consider a move for the youngster again, with Denis claiming the 20-year-old is seemingly surplus to requirements.

He said: “Very disappointing in the Lyon jersey, Rayan Cherki is no longer transferable. OL even opens the door to a departure this winter.

“The amount requested is around twenty million euros, a little more according to some sources. No concrete approaches at the moment.”

Lyon currently sit bottom of Ligue 1, with there being very little promise for what is to come for the rest of the season.

Even the loan of Chelsea starlet Diego Moreira has not been a boost for them, with him only playing mere minutes for the French club this season.
