Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has been voted by the fans as the greatest striker in the French top division for the past 20 years.
The Ligue 1 social media account created a poll-tournament to decide the greatest striker to have played in the French top division in the past two decades.
And the 42-year-old who played for Guingamp and Marseille edged former Paris Saint-Germain star Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the crown in the final.
Drogba also saw off competition from Fernando Morientes, Alexander Frei, Karim Benzema and Pauleta on the run to the final stage.
Drogba responded on Twitter by saying: “Wow, what recognition from the fans, thank you Guingamp and Marseille for allowing me to experience these incredible emotions.
“Great respect to all strikers who have played in the French championship.”
The former Ivory Coast international had a record of 39 goals in 83 Ligue 1 games – 20 for Guingamp and 19 for Marseille.
His goal-scoring record at Marseille attracted Chelsea, who then decided to spend a then-club-record £24million.
We all know how the tale went after that.
