Chelsea loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi endured a rough night in the Bundesliga last night.

Despite Bayer Leverkusen wining in comfortable fashion against VFL Bochum, the 22-year-old was substituted at half-time by manager Xabi Alonso.

Hudson-Odoi has been desperate to impress as he endures his first loan spell away from Stamford Bridge this season.

Thomas Tuchel, who was in charge when the campaign began, was seemingly not a fan of the winger. He was happy for him to be sold during the last summer transfer window.

However, he did receive assurances from Todd Boehly that he had a future with the club if he impressed in Germany.

It would be tough to stay he has done that though. Hudson-Odoi has no goals and just one assist in the Bundesliga this season.

Hudson-Odoi fails to impress on loan

Despite featuring predominantly in the attack, and sometimes even down the middle, it has still not come to fruition for the England international in front of goal.

Last night saw another tough outing. He was replaced at half-time after an ineffective showing at home.

With the transfer activity currently going on at Chelsea, things may be even tougher for the academy graduate when he returns at the end of the season.

Mykhailo Mudryk has joined the club from Shakhtar Donetsk, with it being reported that he has signed on a lower wage than what Hudson-Odoi is on.

The Ukrainian has already impressed greatly on his debut for the club at Anfield, as he showed a directness and ability to drive towards goal many have been crying out for from Hudson-Odoi when he has played.

With options such as Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech who can play on the wings too, next summer could see the end of his tenure at Chelsea.
