Chelsea will no doubt be looking around some of the top clubs in Europe in an attempt to secure some of their summer signings.

The Blues are risking missing out on Champions League football off the back of their recent results, something which may impact their spending plans at the end of the season.

One position that has been reported to be a priority to target in the summer is a centre-back. Both Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile have proven to be unreliable in terms of fitness.

Many believe the Blues should also be looking for an experienced figure to help Levi Colwill in his development at Stamford Bridge.

One defender who would fit this criteria is Kim Min-Jae, who is currently featuring for Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich.

Chelsea make contact with Kim Min-Jae

The 28-year-old has experience playing at the top level of European football, including this season’s Champions League before they were dumped out by Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.

Journalist Santi Aouna has claimed that Chelsea are one of the sides who have spoken to people close to the centre-back, with him considering leaving the Bundesliga giants this summer.

He said: “Chelsea and Newcastle have spoken to the management of Kim Min-jae to express their interest.

“The center back is very open to leave Bayern this summer and is willing to listen to offers.”

Worrying Kim Min-Jae stat

Despite all the experience the South Korean has gained during his career at the top level, there is a particularly worrying statistic from the 2024/25 season which could put Chelsea off a deal.

Kim has committed the most errors leading to a goal in Bundesliga than any other player this season, with four goals coming directly from those moments.

Chelsea have been the victims of their own downfall this season when it comes to individual errors on the pitch, with them costing themselves multiple points in the process.

Adding another error-prone star to their ranks could be seen as a mistake, and with plenty of other options out there
