It has been reported that Chelsea are pushing hard to complete the signing of Xavi Simons, however The Chelsea Chronicle understands they are still doing checks on another option too.
Simons is very keen on joining Chelsea, even sending a message to new Blue Jorrel Hato on social media in order to try and push the deal through from his end.
Despite reports claiming a deal between Chelsea and RB Leipzig is done, it looks as if things are not quite there yet for a variety of reasons.
Leipzig have asked about signing Carney Chukwuemeka, whilst also hold an interest in youngster Tyrique George, who will find opportunities very hard to come by next season.

Chelsea doing checks on Morgan Rogers before committing to Xavi Simons or Alejandro Garnacho
Simons is the top target at the minute, but that is only because a deal to sign Morgan Rogers has not really come to fruition.
Rogers emerged as a target for Chelsea early this summer, however Aston Villa have remained insistent that he was not for sale this summer.
Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has told The Chelsea Chronicle that the Blues are just making sure a deal cannot be done for Rogers before putting the final touches on a deal for Simons or Alejandro Garnacho.
He said: “From what I’m told, as we’ve discussed previously, their dream signing in that position would be Morgan Rogers and that remains the case. Simons and Garnacho are progressing. Simmons more so than Ganacho at this point is more advanced. I think they’re just making sure Chelsea that before doing Simmons or Ganacho that Rogers isn’t available and definitively isn’t available.”

Chelsea advancing with Garnacho talks
Chelsea have started talks with Manchester United over the possible signing of Garnacho, however any deal for the Argentine is likely to take place later in the window.
Not all Chelsea fans have been completely convinced that the signing is what they need, especially after Jamie Gittens has already joined the club this summer.
However, with Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho gone and Mykhailo Mudryk unavailable for selection, there is an argument that depth is still needed out wide.
It remains to be seen the terms of a potential deal, however it is likely that the Blues will be looking for a cut-price deal after it has become clear he is not in Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford.
