Reports from Italy have claimed that Chelsea may be able to pull of the sensational signing of Victor Osimhen at the end of the season from Napoli.

According to Mattino di Napoli, the Blues qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League is going to be key in them convincing the player of their project.

Osimhen has picked up exactly where he left off last season in the early stages of the Serie A campaign where they look to defend their title.

He has three goals in as many games, off the back of a 26-goal league campaign in Italy on their way to winning it all.

He was the subject of plenty of transfer interest this summer, and Chelsea were one of the clubs heavily linked to bringing him in.

However, the price Napoli were requesting was deemed too high for any European clubs. They also said no to serious interest from the Saudi League.

Osimhen could join Chelsea

Despite these rejections, it seems like one of the best known secrets in football that he will be on the move in the coming months.

It has been claimed that the Blues could return to the potential deal, however the key to them convincing the player is qualifying for the Champions League for next season.

This would obviously require them to finish in the top four or potentially top five in the Premier League, which would need a bit of a pick-up from their early season form.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit in the bottom half of the table after just one win in their opening four fixtures.

A lot of their issues can be attributed to their striking woes, with Nicolas Jackson in particular having a mixed start to life at Stamford Bridge.
