Chelsea are starting to show signs of learning from mistakes in the transfer market, however need to steer clear after being used by one player for his own gain.
The Blues have adapted their transfer policy to suit Xabi Alonso and the tactics he wants to play when he arrives at Stamford Bridge in July.
Chelsea have agreed a fee for wing-back Marco Palestra after Alonso made it clear that he sees him as a crucial part of his project.

Chelsea are being used by £20m target Yasin Ayari
The Blues are also keen on Maxence Lacroix, who has plenty of experience playing in the Premier League in a back three.
With the ongoing World Cup, Chelsea scouts are keeping an eye on those performing at the competition, with Graham Potter’s Sweden catching the eye.

In their first game, Yasin Ayari scored twice, and he was instantly linked to Chelsea in what would be yet another deal between the Blues and Brighton.
Ayari is valued at £20m (FI), however Lewis Steele believes the interest is being generated by the camp of the player in order to get him an improved contract.
He said: “But it does seem like it’s being pushed a bit from the Ayari camp in terms of he’s played well for Sweden. Let’s drum up some media interest in him and then we’ll get him a new deal or you know whatever.”

Chelsea can do better than Ayari
While being a promising midfielder, Chelsea should be aiming higher than Ayari if they are looking to sign a new player for that position this summer.
It remains Enzo Fernandez’s desire to secure a move to Real Madrid, and he will need to be replaced by a top name if the Blues don’t want to lose out.
Adam Wharton has emerged as the top target in the position, although this could then rely on them making two big signings from Palace this summer.
This may tempt the Blues to throw in a sweetener, which could come in the form of Josh Acheampong after he has found opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge.
