Thiago Silva thinks he may have played his last ever Champions League match in Chelsea’s defeat against Real Madrid yesterday.
Chelsea were dumped out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Madrid after a 4-0 aggregate defeat, losing 2-0 in last night’s second leg at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were unable to find a way past Thibaut Courtois on Tuesday evening. In contrast, Rodrygo scored a second-half brace for the visitors to seal their spot in the semi-finals.
It means Frank Lampard’s side now have just seven Premier League games remaining during what’s been a turbulent and disappointing season.

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, 38, started and played well in last night’s European tie.
Speaking after the result, Silva admitted he may have just played in the Champions League for the final time in his career.
The veteran centre-back is still under contract at the Bridge until the end of next season, but there won’t be any Champions League football on offer next year.
“It has been a very difficult season and very frustrating for me personally. It might have been my last match in the Champions League. I have one year left of my contract and my career is reaching to the final. It is a very sad days,” Silva said, as quoted by Beanyman Sports.

If Silva’s played his last ever game in the Champions League, he can reflect with huge pride for his achievements in Europe’s elite club competition.
The Brazilian centre-half was colossal for well over a decade during Champions League ties in Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan colours. However, it took until his move to Chelsea for him to finally win the tournament back in the 2020/21 season.
He’s one of the elite defenders from his era, so it’s sad to think he won’t hear that Champions League anthem again.
With 100-plus appearances in the competition, Silva ranks as one of the best centre-halves to play in it.
