Reports have claimed that Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is now unlikely to face Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend.

According to the Evening Standard, the Frenchman is still being assessed by the club’s medical team this week, although a return for this weekend is not promising.

Disasi has started every Premier League game this season after his transfer from Ligue 1 over the summer.

The Blues brought him in as a result of a serious injury to Wesley Fofana, who is likely to miss the majority of this season after his pre-season problems.

There was actually not a lot of hype surrounding his addition. Many feared it could be the end of Levi Colwill’s time at the club.

Disasi unlikely to play Arsenal

However, they have both been ever present’s at Stamford Bridge this season, with Disasi actually impressing the most out of any of the summer signings so far.

It emerged over a week ago that he had to pull out of the France senior squad after an injury he had suffered in the last Premier League game against Burnley.

The Blues made it consecutive victories in the competition that day with a 4-1 trouncing of their opponents, and the international break probably came at the worst possible time.

Now, they face the challenge of title-challenging Arsenal coming to Stamford Bridge, in what will be their biggest test of the season.

Therefore, it is going to be a big blow that Disasi is reportedly not going to be fit to feature against their London rivals.

This could see Levi Colwill brought back into his more natural central defensive role, likely to partner Thiago Silva as they await the return of Benoit Badiashile.
