Chelsea players not on international duty spend time together in USA
Four Chelsea players travelled to the United States to watch an NBA game between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets during the international break.
The quartet; Hakim Ziyech, Romelu Lukaku, Trevoh Chalobah, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, are among the few Chelsea players who are not on international duty at the moment.
Ziyech has previously announced his decision to retire from the Morocco national team, twice in fact, after falling out with head coach Vahid Halilhodzic.
While the other three did not make their respective national team squad, with Chalobah yet to make England senior debut despite previously playing for the U-21s.
In Lukaku’s case, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez decided to focus on youth, leaving out his most experienced players, including the Chelsea striker, Kevin de Bruyne, and Thibaut Courtois.
Meanwhile, Arrizabalaga surprisingly did not make the Spain squad despite his improved performances in recent months.
The two other Blues Spaniards; Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, on the other hand, are part of Luis Enrique’s latest squad.
The four eventually decided to spend some time watching an NBA game between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets at FTX Arena, Florida.
The Blues will be back in action next weekend in a Premier League match against Brentford, before facing Real Madrid at home in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie just a few days later.
