Chelsea reportedly looks set to miss out on CSKA Moscow sensation Aleksandr Golovin, but it could be a blessing in disguise for the club.
According to Calciomercato, the Blues and Juventus look set to be beaten to the 22-year-old’s signature by Monaco and the attacking midfielder will undergo a medical on Thursday.
Many have felt Golovin could be the perfect answer for the West Londoners to complete a midfield three alongside Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, but they may have to now look elsewhere.

The answer may be under the nose of manager Maurizio Sarri, with Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek the beneficiaries.
Chelsea could do with a midfielder to complete a diamond in Sarri’s formation and both of them tick the boxes.
Barkley, 24, has had a rough start to life at Stamford Bridge.
But, if he can stay free of injury and recreate his best form, he could be starting soon.
The ex-Everton ace should have the licence to play with freedom in front of Kante and Jorginho.
Sarri has already experimented with this tactic, with varying success.

Meanwhile, supporters are crying out for Loftus-Cheek to get a first-team run after impressing out on loan with Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old is a powerhouse that is ready to step up for Chelsea and deserves his opportunity.
Both Chelsea stars Barkley and Loftus-Cheek are good enough to enjoy breakout campaigns in a Chelsea kit.
This is why the club can perhaps turn its attention to strengthening other areas of the pitch in the window.
