One position which Chelsea elected not to strengthen either at the start of the season or in January is the striker role.
A lot of faith was put in Nicolas Jackson to provide the goals, and while he started off the campaign hot he has gone off the boil of late.
John Obi Mikel has demanded for Jackson to be benched, although there will be questions over who can fill his void. Christopher Nkunku failed to take his chance in the FA Cup against Brighton.
| Nicolas Jackson recent performances | Minutes | Goals |
| vs West Ham | 52 | 0 |
| vs Man City | 61 | 0 |

There is plenty of expectation that the Blues will address the position when the transfer market opens again at the end of this season, and the list of players they have been linked with is vast.

Chelsea send scouts to watch Samu Agheowa and Conrad Harder
While Premier League-proven players such as Liam Delap have been mentioned, they have also looked elsewhere, with a number of names in the Portuguese league being linked.
Two of those are Samu Aghewowa and Conrad Harder, with the duo facing off in the league on Friday night.
Neither found the net in an entertaining 1-1 draw, where fellow Chelsea target Ousmane Diomande was sent off late on.
According to TBR, the Blues had scouts in attendance to watch both strikers at the weekend, with them likely knowing they need to get this next signing absolutely correct.
Chelsea were very interested in signing Samu last summer, and nearly brought him in from Atletico Madrid before he moved to Porto.
While supporters were heavily against this deal at the time, things couldn’t have gone any worse than they did with who they signed instead, Joao Felix. The Portugal international is now on loan after his big move just six months ago.

Samu vs Harder 24/25 stats
After seeing his move to Stamford Bridge fall apart, Samu has been in electric form in front of goal now he is playing regular minutes.
Goals have come in both league and European action, while Harder has had to wait more patiently for his opportunities.
This is because he is competing for minutes with Viktor Gyokeres, another player who Chelsea have been linked with signing.
| Samu vs Harder 24/25 | Samu apps | Samu goals | Harder apps | Harder goals |
| Liga Portugal | 17 | 13 | 16 | 4 |
| Champions League | – | – | 7 | 1 |
| Europa League | 7 | 5 | – | – |
Perhaps if Chelsea want to be looking at an established number nine, their best bet in the Portuguese league at this stage would be Gyokeres, who is expected to move on this summer.
