Chelsea set their price to sell Christopher Nkunku this summer as Blues prepare for big loss

It is perhaps ironic that one of Chelsea’s biggest underperformers in recent months actually sits as one of their top scorers this season.

No Blue has scored more goals in all competitions this season than Christopher Nkunku, with him sitting on the same amount as star player Cole Palmer, despite his recent woes in front of goal.

Despite his numbers, there has been nothing but criticism in recent weeks for the Frenchman, who failed to take his chance in the starting side when Nicolas Jackson was injured.

The most recent Premier League game against Fulham saw him left out of the team completely, with Enzo Maresca saying he left Nkunku out rather than him being injured.

Chelsea set price tag for Christopher Nkunku

This perhaps spells the beginning of the end for the attacker, who was widely reported to be on the move back in January before the Blues decided to loan out Joao Felix instead.

Reports have continued to link Nkunku with a move away at the end of the season, however Chelsea are going to have to drop their valuation if they want to find a new suitor for him.

According to Maxifoot, the Blues are holding out for a fee of £35m, meaning they will be accepting a big loss on the fee they paid to originally sign him.

The Blues paid more than £50m to sign the forward, and after injuries kept him out of the majority of his first season at Stamford Bridge, things have not worked out since Maresca came in.

Christopher Nkunku’s possible future clubs

The report goes on to say that the France international is keen on a return to Bundesliga, the league where he played his best football at RB Leipzig.

January saw Nkunku linked with Bayern Munich, with there talks of Mathys Tel going the other way before he went to Tottenham.

It can be expected that they will be interested in a deal for him again, with them set to say goodbye to Thomas Muller at the end of the season.

The Blues may run in to a similar problem they did last summer though in having a plethora of individuals they want to sell, with suitors safe in the knowledge they could get desperate to part ways.
