Christopher Nkunku is a player massively rated by Chelsea’s coaching staff.

That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Christopher Nkunku, who’s waiting to make his competitive debut for Chelsea, is watching from the sidelines right now after a frustrating injury during pre-season.

The 25-year-old attacker looks like he can answer a lot of the Blues issues at the top end of the pitch, proving at RB Leipzig he can be a real goalscoring force.

However, the Frenchman may not be back from his knee problem until November (The Guardian).

Fabrizio Romano has explained that Chelsea’s staff, including those closest to head coach Mauricio Pochettino, recognise Nkunku a someone vital to the XI.

Apparently, there’s a belief that the forward will make a significant impact when he’s available to play.

“It will take some time to see Nkunku back after his injury. Probably still a couple of months to see Nkunku available,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“Chelsea feel this is going to be a crucial step in their season. The pre-season from Christopher Nkunku, not just in the friendly games but also in the training, was excellent.

“People from the coaching staff, people very close to Mauricio Pochettino, believed that Nkunku was going to be the signing of the season for Chelsea in the offensive positions.

“… People in the club still believe that Nkunku’s return will make the difference for Chelsea.”

We agree that Nkunku holds the key to unlocking the very best from the Chelsea attack. It’s such a shame his debut has been delayed as things were beginning to take shape during pre-season under Pochettino.

In the meantime, the Blues simply have to cope without him as an attacking threat and it’s up to some expensive players to step up.

We would like to see new recruit Cole Palmer get a few games as the advanced midfielder to try create and score goals.
