Chelsea staff believe that their youngster Lesley Ugochukwu is a special talent.

That is according to Dean Jones.

Journalist Dean Jones reported via GiveMeSport this week that Chelsea staff at Cobham have huge “excitement” when it comes to Lesley Ugochukwu.

It is understood that the Blues think they may have stumbled upon a bargain with the 19-year-old midfielder.

In addition, the French teenager could get the chance to impress in these next few games before the international break.

Chelsea spent £23million (BBC) to sign Ugochukwu from Rennes in the summer window, which could turn out to be a fantastic piece of transfer business.

He’s not one of the high-profile names to join the Blues in recent times, but he’s handled himself impressively with first-team games this campaign.

The powerhouse defensive midfielder has already played six matches this season, which is more than we expected when he first joined up with the squad.

Mauricio Pochettino has trusted him in the centre of the park, where his physicality is a perfect match for the English game. At the age of 19, some technical things still need tweaking with more experience.

Ugochukwu has just said Pochettino is the right head coach to take him to “another level”, as quoted by talkSPORT. We’re really hoping that he’s right!

We’ve got reservations about how much game time he’ll actually get when Romeo Lavia does return from injury, but it’s important he impresses and makes a statement whenever he’s on the pitch.

Chelsea will hope there’s several gems lurking in the current squad after investing so heavily to bring in young talents.
