The Chelsea owners continue their project of buying young players, with another exciting teenager in the form of Alfie Osborne set to join the academy.
Chelsea have secured a major coup by agreeing a deal to sign highly-rated Alfie Osborne from Hearts, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Scotland U19 international has officially accepted the Blues’ proposal and successfully completed his medical, putting pen to paper on a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.
Osborne’s decision represents a significant scouting victory for Chelsea’s youth recruitment drive, as the talented teenager actively chose to join the London club ahead of offers from top teams across Europe.
Who is Alfie Osborne?
Alfie Osborne is a 17-year-old Scottish defender who plays as a centre-back and defensive midfielder.
Born on July 16, 2008, he stands at 1.94 meters (6ft 4in) tall. Osborne has spent his developmental career at Heart of Midlothian, where he played primarily for Hearts B in the Scottish Lowland League, making 33 appearances and scoring one goal.
At the international level, Osborne has come through the youth ranks for Scotland, making six appearances for the Scotland Under-17 squad before moving up the age groups.
He currently has three caps for the Scotland Under-18 team and has recently broken into the Scotland Under-19 squad, where he has already earned his first international appearances in Euro qualification.
He’s described as a calm, ball-playing defender who acts like a “Rolls-Royce” on the pitch. Because of his midfield background, his main strength is stepping forward with the ball to start attacks. But that’s not all, as he reads the game very well and uses his frame to dominate aerial duels.
