Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Chelsea are determined to bring Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Chelsea are very much in the race for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Although the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are keen on Sporting Lisbon and Uruguay international defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, they remain determined to secure the services of Ecuador international midfielder Caicedo from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion as well.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea remain absolutely INTO the race for Moises Caicedo. Nothing has changed.  #CFC

“He’s in the list, 100% — no matter what happens with Ugarte deal, still ongoing.”

Exciting Moises Caicedo update for Chelsea fans

In our view, that Chelsea are determined to sign Moises Caicedo is very exciting for the Stamford Bridge faithful.

The 21-year-old is one of the best young midfielders around, and Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has publicly said that he could leave in the summer transfer window.

The Guardian have claimed that Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in Caicedo, described as “strong and powerful” by Manchester United legend Roy Keane.

This shows just how highly the midfielder is rated in the footballing community.

Now, of course, Chelsea do have a very strong midfield department, but there are rumours that a number of players could leave.

As reported by The Guardian, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could join Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea respectively, while N’Golo Kante is out of contract at the end of the season.

So, there would be space in the Chelsea team for Caicedo.
