Chelsea made a bid for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan earlier in the transfer window.
That is according to one report from Tuttosport.
The Italian outlet claims that the Blues submitted a £52m offer for Mike Maignan as they looked to bring in a new shot-stopper.
However, Tuttosport’s report says Milan would only consider a proposal of around £86m to sell the 28-year-old this summer.

Chelsea have since gone on to sign Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion, but they may need another goalkeeper given the uncertainty surrounding Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future.
Sky Sports recently claimed that Kepa is Bayern Munich’s No.1 target for the position between the sticks. The German giants have just lost Yann Sommer to Milan’s rivals Inter Milan, while Manuel Neuer is still recovering from a broken leg.
Chelsea going back in for Mike Maignan would be a surprise
Chelsea are going to have to increase the £52m offer they reportedly made for Maignan by another £34m if they want to sign the Frenchman it seems.
Even if Kepa does go on to depart Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes, that seems unlikely.
It is a lot of money to spend on a goalkeeper, while the Blues may not have that much cash left to play with if they go out and buy the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Maignan is a tremendous shot-stopper and would be an incredible addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. He has been described as “special” by Milan legend Clarence Seedorf.
Having brought Sanchez in, if Chelsea do need to replace Kepa, the most likely outcome is probably them signing a cheap No.2 who can provide cover for the former Brighton star.
As of now, their priority is bringing in midfielders after losing a host of them during this transfer window.
