Dastan Satpayev hasn’t even enjoyed his first day at Chelsea, yet he’s already being asked questions about Crystal Palace.

Dastan Satpayev enjoyed an incredible 2026 campaign in the Kazakhstan Premier League with Kairat, building on his breakout 14-goal season last year. The 17-year-old prodigy has established himself as the league’s top attacking talent, maintaining some of the most efficient dribbling metrics across Europe.

Having previously agreed to a £3 million transfer to Stamford Bridge, Satpayev is scheduled to officially complete his move when he turns 18 on August 12.

Chelsea has already requested that Satpayev reports to London early alongside his mother. Xabi Alonso wants the teenage forward integrated directly into first-team pre-season training, eager to personally assess his potential before deciding on his immediate development pathway.

Dastan Satpayev open to a loan move from Chelsea

In a bizarre interview that was shared by ScoutEurasia, Dastan Satpayev admitted that he would be open to joining Crystal Palace on loan.

Interviewer – “Let’s say you aren’t getting any game time at Chelsea, but you get an offer to join Crystal Palace, just to get some minutes on the pitch. Would you go?

Satpayev – “But will I play there?”

Interviewer – “Yes”

Satpayev – “Then yes”

Now, the one thing to remember here is that he’s just 17 years old and likely has no media training, so a response to a question like this can be taken way out of context.

Chelsea could use Satpayev to help Maxence Lacroix pursuit

If Xabi Alonso deems Dastan Satpayev not quite ready for the rigors of the Premier League following their pre-season assessment, Chelsea could use the young Kazakh prodigy as a bargaining chip.

The Blues have officially opened talks to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, who is heavily coveted by Alonso to anchor his preferred back-three system.

With Palace placing a steep €40 million price tag on the French international, offering Satpayev on a season-long loan could perfectly grease the wheels of a deal.

Oliver Glasner’s side has a proven track record of developing young attackers, making a temporary move to Selhurst Park highly beneficial for Satpayev’s adaptation to English football.
