Chelsea youngster to sign new contract with the club, he won’t be leaving on loan

Chelsea will no doubt be looking to sort out the immediate futures of a number of their younger players before the end of this summer transfer window.

With only a limited number of loan spots available to international sides, the Blues need to choose carefully when it comes to who leaves the club.

Andrey Santos’ move to Strasbourg saw him leave the first team tour of the United States early, with the Ligue 1 side also looking at Djordje Petrovic.

Some of those who have been brought in as part of the new owners’ mantra of buying young seem to have made an impact. Marc Guiu has impressed many supporters during the recent pre-season campaign.

One player who has been unable to make an impact at any level recently is Sam Rak-Sakyi, who is currently suffering from an injury.

Sam Rak-Sakyi set to sign new Chelsea contract

This has reportedly hampered his chances of a loan move away this summer, with Sheffield United keen on bringing him in.

They already have Alfie Gilchrist from the Blues, who impressed greatly on his Championship debut at the weekend.

According to BBC Sport though, Rak-Sakyi will put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him extend his stay with the Blues for another two years.

The youngster’s time at the club looked set to be over earlier this summer when his contract originally expired in June.

However, it seems as if talks between the club and Rak-Sakyi were positive, and a deal was reached to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

A number of younger players who were coming up seem to have decided that they do not see a good pathway to first team football at the club anymore, and have taken their talents elsewhere.

The biggest example of that this summer has been Rio Ngumoha, who has made a move to Liverpool as he pushes towards senior minutes.
