Chris Sutton predicts the score for Chelsea vs Brighton in the Premier League

Chris Sutton has predicted the score ahead of tomorrow’s game between Chelsea and Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea host rivals Brighton on Saturday afternoon for a 3pm kick-off in the Premier League. They currently sit fifth and seventh, respectively, after solid starts to the new season, so we’re expecting a tight contest this weekend.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca is quickly winning over the fanbase at the start of his reign because of the decent start. In fact, speaking via Sky Sports this week, Jamie Redknapp explained how Chelsea are taking shape under Maresca.

The feel-good factor around the Bridge is only going to increase with another three points against Brighton.

Chris Sutton predicts Chelsea vs Brighton

BBC pundit Chris Sutton is super impressed by the recent form of Chelsea and is tipping them to record a narrow home win over Brighton this weekend.

“Chelsea deserved the criticism they got when their performances were all over the place, so people need to give them praise now they are playing well,” Sutton told BBC Sport.

“There is still some turbulence at the top level, in terms of the power struggle that seems to be going on in the boardroom, but you cannot fault what they are doing on the pitch.

“I have struggled to predict their results in the past, and for good reason, but hopefully that will start to get easier now they are showing the consistency they had previously been missing. Having said all that, this is still a very tricky game to call. Brighton have also made a decent start, and they will definitely carry a threat.

“So, I had to think hard about this but I am going to for a narrow Chelsea win, with Cole Palmer to do the business for them, and Nicolas Jackson to carry on his good form too.

“Sutton’s prediction: 2-1.”

The Blues have two more league matches before the October international break. Afterwards, there’s a run of four league games that look extremely challenging on paper.

If Maresca’s side come through the games above unscathed and still around the top four spots, we’re confident this could end up being a very successful campaign. But it’s now time for this talented young group to show what they’re about against quality opposition.
