It’s 18 months ago that Christopher Nkunku signed as a Chelsea player, but there’s strong transfer speculation that he could leave the club in the January window.
Unfortunately, Christopher Nkunku has found it difficult to really get going as a Chelsea player. He’s done very well to score 13 goals across all competitions so far this season, but he’s only netted once in the Premier League because he’s struggling for minutes in the top flight.
Bayern Munich have agreed personal terms with Chelsea attacker Nkunku as they try to bring him to the Allianz Arena in the mid-season window.
Apparently, Bayern failed with their first offer for Nkunku because Chelsea are asking for more cash upfront. Let’s wait and see if there’s any more developments regarding the 27-year-old’s future in the coming days.

Christopher Nkunku warned about Bayern Munich move
ESPN pundit Julien Laurens thinks it would be an obvious mistake if Nkunku leaves Chelsea to join Bayern in January. He insists that the French attacker would find it impossible breaking into the starting XI of the Bundesliga giants, so he’d be stuck in the exact spot warming the bench.
Laurens told ESPN: “If [Nkunku] goes to Bayern, he’s not going to play ahead of Harry Kane and he’s not a lone striker anyway. He’s not going to play behind Harry Kane because that’s where Jamal Musiala plays and right now there’s no way you’d drop him to put Nkunku in.
“He can play wide, I guess, but he’s not the same threat as Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry or Leroy Sane… He would go from being a sub at Chelsea to a sub at Bayern.”
Even though Nkunku can play several different positions in the frontline, it’s not helping him break into Chelsea’s best starting line-up. It’s particularly difficult when Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer are ever-presents in the Premier League as the No 9 and No 10.
Nkunku is pushing to leave Chelsea because he dreams of playing for France at the 2026 World Cup, but will anyone match the Blues’ £65m asking price?

Should Christopher Nkunku leave Chelsea?
From Nkunku’s perspective, it feels like a no-brainer to leave Chelsea as soon as possible. Even though he’s proving he’s still a clinical goalscorer, he’s simply not playing enough games.
Here is a look at the forward’s frustrating record in the league so far this campaign:
| Rank | Player | Premier League minutes |
| 1st | Moises Caicedo | 1,855 |
| 2nd | Cole Palmer | 1,837 |
| 3rd | Levi Colwill | 1,799 |
| 4th | Robert Sanchez | 1,710 |
| 5th | Nicolas Jackson | 1,535 |
| 6th | Marc Cucurella | 1,534 |
| 7th | Enzo Fernandez | 1,512 |
| 8th | Malo Gusto | 1,240 |
| 9th | Noni Madueke | 1,200 |
| 10th | Wesley Fofana | 1,015 |
| 11th | Pedro Neto | 1,012 |
| 12th | Jadon Sancho | 961 |
| 13th | Tosin Adarabioyo | 643 |
| 14th | Romeo Lavia | 532 |
| 15th | Christopher Nkunku | 402 |
The fact that Bayern great Thomas Muller is out of contract with them in the summer could mean it opens a door for someone with Nkunku’s profile. However, it’s a fair point that starting as a No 10 ahead of Jamal Musiala could be as difficult as getting in ahead of Palmer at Chelsea.
