AS Roma general manager Tiago Pinto insisted that he does not have concerns over Tammy Abraham’s future despite Chelsea’s having a buy-back right for the striker.
After a dry patch in October, Abraham is the joint-fifth highest-scoring player in Serie A with 10 goals.
Across all competitions, the 24-year-old has had 17 goals and three assists from 29 appearances for Roma.
It is safe to say that he has been one of the most valuable members of Jose Mourinho’s squad at the moment.
Chelsea have proved that they are not hesitant to spend big on their former player after signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a club-record fee of £97.5million (The Guardian).
However, Roma chief Pinto gives a calm response when asked about Abraham’s possible Chelsea return.
“No, the [buy-back] clause comes into effect in 2023, but I’m not worried,” Pinto said in a press conference on Tuesday(via Tuttomercatoweb).
“He’s playing well, and, as the coach said, he can do even better.
“For his first year in Italy, he is doing well, but I am not worried about Chelsea’s buy-back right.”

According to a report from The Athletic, Chelsea inserted a buy-back clause worth €80m (£66.6m) in the transfer agreement with Roma. That is double that of the €40m (£33.3m) that Roma reportedly paid for the striker last summer.
