Cole Palmer made incredible prediction in the middle of Chelsea’s penalty shootout vs Newcastle

Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has proven that he is a great penalty taker, but he may have the potential to be a good penalty saver as well!

During Chelsea‘s shootout with Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, Cole Palmer could be seen pointing in the direction Matt Ritchie aimed his spot kick before he took it.

The 21-year-old guessed right but, more importantly, so did Djordje Petrovic, who went on to save Ritchie’s penalty to send the Blues into the semi-finals of the competition.

Palmer went up first and scored his spot kick to put Chelsea in the lead, which they managed to keep.

This season, the Englishman has dispatched four penalties in the Premier League, netting against Burnley, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Can Chelsea win the Carabao Cup?

Chelsea will fancy their chances of reaching the final after last night’s semi-final draw.

The Blues were drawn against Middlesbrough and will be expected to make it to Wembley.

In a one-off game, anything can happen, especially with this inconsistent Chelsea team. However, with the semi-finals being played over two legs, it really is hard to imagine Middlesbrough managing to get two good results against Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.

Should Chelsea make it to the final, they will play either Fulham or Liverpool. Palmer and his team-mates have already beaten the former this season, while they went toe-to-toe with the latter at the beginning of the campaign, drawing 1-1 with them.

Honestly, we think there is a good chance of the Blues winning the trophy at Wembley. It will not be easy, especially if they have to take on Liverpool, but this Chelsea team has enough quality to do it.

And if it does go to penalties, hopefully Palmer, one of the players who brings quality to Pochettino’s team, can step up again.
