Levi Colwill has just made his senior England debut during the international break.

Levi Colwill, who’s still only 20, played the full game in England’s 1-0 win against Australia last night in a friendly.

The Chelsea youngster earned his first senior cap for his country, doing so at Wembley Stadium on a memorable night for him.

He played 90 minutes at left-back for Gareth Southgate’s side. Despite being a centre-back by trade, he’s adapted well to a full-back position this season for the Blues and managed to replicate that on the international stage.

Colwill uploaded an Instagram post after Friday night’s England debut, which received responses in the comment section from several club teammates. The likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka replied to the England debutant.

We’re still pretty certain Colwill’s long-term future for Chelsea and England will be playing as a star centre-back, but it’s great to see him getting minutes already at his age.

The versatile defender continues to grow into this new left-back spot, which does highlight his quality on the ball and superb passing.

He’ll look more comfortable in the heart of defence, though.

Darren Bent recently tipped Chelsea’s Colwill as someone who could be an England star in the upcoming years, as quoted by talkSPORT.

Let’s hope Friday night’s cap was the first of many for the left-footed star in England colours.

He’s achieved a lot already by winning the Under-21s European Championship with the Young Lions earlier this year. Can he nail down a spot in Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad in time for next summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, though?
