After the heartbreak of missing out on England’s 2026 World Cup squad, Cole Palmer has spoken out about Chelsea among other things.
Cole Palmer had arguably his toughest season at Chelsea yet. A chronic hip injury severely disrupted his momentum, limiting him to just 11 goals and 3 assists across all competitions as he struggled for form and consistency within a struggling Blues side.
This club-level slump and repeated withdrawals from international camps ultimately made Thomas Tuchel’s decision for him.
But, there are already regrets seeping in when you look at the reaction of pundits and supporters after England’s 0-0 draw with Ghana.

Cole Palmer to use his England snub as motivation
In an interview with ID, Cole Palmer had his usual ‘cold’ persona, relishing the rest he’s getting this summer.
“I’m going to relax this summer, rest for the first time in 3 or 4 years, before getting back to what I love.”
And specifically talking about the England snub, it seems as if he’s already past it.
“I’m not crying over a decision you can’t change, and I hope the lads make it all the way.
“If I’m not doing anything, then I’ll watch the matches, yeah.”

Cole Palmer acknowledges Chelsea’s season
Reflecting on Chelsea’s extremely disappointing campaign, he stated.
“This season hasn’t been the best, but it is what it is.”
As we know, Chelsea endured a chaotic 2025–26 campaign, finishing 10th in the Premier League and failing to qualify for European football.
But what didn’t help was the parting ways with Enzo Maresca in January, briefly replacing him with Liam Rosenior, and finishing under interim coach Calum McFarlane.
