Chelsea’s star player was coming into his second season at the club off some heartbreak over the summer.
Cole Palmer had been forced to wait patiently for his chance to impress at the European Championships for England, however more than made his mark in the final of the competition.
His goal wasn’t enough, after Marc Cucurella set up Spain’s winning goal against the Three Lions.

Palmer was clearly gutted, however has not taken long to put it behind him and pick up where he left off as one of the best players in the Premier League.
His confidence in his own abilities remains unmatched. Palmer shared that he told Morgan Rogers he was going to win Man of the Match before he did on Sunday against Aston Villa.
Cole Palmer straight back to work after Euros defeat
However, his trainer and cousin, Nathan Palmer, has stated that his desire to succeed matches that confidence, shown by his immediate desire to return to Chelsea action after being dumped out of the Euros.
He told Sports Gazette: “He came home [from the Euros] with a mindset of like, ‘We need to get to work. I’ve got to go back to Chelsea’.
“It was a case of making sure Cole was where he needed to be explosiveness wise, and then working on trying to build up a bit more upper body and core strength.
“I think we all thought he should be playing a little bit more than he did [at the Euros]. Maybe he had that fire from there and came back with that attitude.
“[He wants to] get that edge over competitors in the team and over everyone else.”
Cole Palmer ‘different from the rest’
After Chelsea’s win over Villa on Sunday, Maresca described Palmer as ‘different from the rest’, and a reason why supporters pay their admission fee.
The England international has more goals and assists combined than appearances this season in the Premier League, and is likely to start again for the Blues tonight against Southampton.
