Chelsea No.27 Malo Gusto has now reacted after hearing what Lyons fans chanted about him on Sunday.
Supporters of the French side hit out at the defender and others after losing 4-1 to PSG last week.
So, how did Malo Gusto react to what Lyon fans have been doing? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, we cannot repeat what Lyon fans called the Frenchman, although it’s safe to say they still haven’t forgiven him for joining Chelsea in a £26.3m January deal.
After hearing what Lyon fans chanted about him, Gusto told RMC Sport: “The situation is complicated but I hope it will get better because it’s my favourite club. It’s been pain. Everyone tried to take a path. I can understand the supporters’ irritation but for it to go this far, it hurts. We come from Lyon, but it’s football, we have to accept it.”
Lyon fans are clearly upset at how their club is being run under the guidance of John Textor.
However, that is no excuse for them to abuse a 20-year-old, to say the least.

If anything, their own frustration at Textor’s ownership serves as a reason for Gusto wanting to further his career elsewhere, at a club who are in better hands.
After all, the France Under-21 international even stayed at Lyon on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, so it’s hardly like he left as soon as he possibly could.
Chelsea must speak to Malo Gusto after Lyon abuse
It is hard enough for a 20-year-old to adapt to life in another country, in a division as notoriously tough as the Premier League, without his old club’s fans abusing him.

Therefore, this unsavoury incident may end up getting inside Gusto’s head, especially as he is a boyhood Lyon fan who was born in the area.
Hopefully, Mauricio Pochettino has reached out and checked on his young right-back’s wellbeing, after the Lyon fans took aim at him for leaving.
