Don Hutchison thinks Chelsea midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo will prove to be the two best recent signings made by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Chelsea have brought in a whole host of new players since being taken over, but Hutchison suggested on ESPN FC that Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are the best of the bunch.
The duo have been key for Mauricio Pochettino this season, with the Argentine recently admitting that he started them against Arsenal over the weekend despite both players not being at 100% after a long international break.

Fernandez joined Chelsea in January for huge money, while Caicedo arrived at Stamford Bridge during the summer for a similar fee.
Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo Chelsea’s two best signings
Discussing the best signings Chelsea have made under Boehly and Clearlake Capital on ESPN FC, Hutchison said: “I think the two best signings for Chelsea, in the next two or three years, will be Enzo Fernandez and I think Caicedo as a pair. I think you look to the future and you think, ‘My goodness me.’
“I mean, Christopher Nkunku still to come back as well. But that pairing in midfield, I think, could be amazing.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice midfield pairing at Chelsea
Fernandez and Caicedo are Chelsea’s top two midfielders, which is hardly a surprise given how much the club spent on them.
When fit, they are going to play. This season so far, they have lined up alongside Conor Gallagher, who has impressed.
According to WhoScored, the England international is making three tackles per league game, which is the second-highest average in Pochettino’s squad.

There is still Romeo Lavia to come back from injury as well, so Pochettino should have some really good midfield options when everyone is fit.
But in most games, especially huge ones like the 2-2 draw with Arsenal, you would expect Fernandez and Caicedo to always get the nod.
In a 4-3-3, which Chelsea have used at times this season, there will obviously be room for another man in the engine room. But once Nkunku returns from injury, you can see the Blues perhaps playing 4-2-3-1 so that the Frenchman can operate in a role just behind the striker.
