ESPN FC pundit Janusz Michallik thinks Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez could have done more for Arsenal’s equaliser in his side’s 2-2 draw yesterday.
Robert Sanchez was at fault for the first goal Chelsea conceded, but Michallik, speaking on ESPN FC, has also criticised the 25-year-old for his role in Arsenal’s second strike, feeling that he did not give Malo Gusto enough help when Bukayo Saka’s cross came in.
Leandro Trossard managed to get on the end of it and help Mikel Arteta’s men to earn a point.
It was Sanchez who gave Arsenal a route back into the game after Chelsea had gone 2-0 up in the London derby at Stamford Bridge. A poor pass from the goalkeeper went straight to Declan Rice, who curled the ball home to make it 2-1.

Michallik believes Sanchez could have done more to prevent Arsenal’s equaliser yesterday.
Discussing the match on ESPN FC, the former USA international said: “That ball by Saka, you always knew where it was going. He could have helped Gusto, even though he fell asleep there after having a tremendous game.”

You can certainly point the finger at Sanchez for Arsenal’s first goal, but blaming him for the second does seem a bit harsh.
That late in the game, Gusto has to be more alert at the back post. Had the Frenchman kept a better eye on Trossard, that goal probably would not have happened.
Gusto is a young defender, though, and will hopefully learn from what happened yesterday.
As for Sanchez, hopefully he can learn from his costly error as well. It is not a mistake that Mauricio Pochettino is likely to dwell on for long, however, with the Argentine quick to jump to his shot-stopper’s defence after the game.
All in all, Chelsea played well in that London derby. But in the end, a couple of mistakes cost them all three points.
