Craig Burley fears one Chelsea star will keep disappointing after recording awful stat vs Bournemouth

One Chelsea player really had a game to forget in his side’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday.

While Chelsea were able to get off to a good start following Cole Palmer’s opener in the 13th minute, the match took a turn in the wrong direction in the second half.

Moises Caicedo gave away a penalty, which Justin Kluivert managed to convert, before Antoine Semenyo put Bournemouth in front for the first time on the night.

It was not Caicedo’s best game in a Chelsea shirt, while Nicolas Jackson also had his struggles further up the pitch.

Craig Burley thinks Nicolas Jackson will continue to be wasteful in front of goal

Jackson has been one of Chelsea’s top performers this season. In 20 Premier League games, the striker has scored nine goals.

However, he has lost his goalscoring touch lately, netting just once in his last seven outings.

Jackson missed some good opportunities in the draw with Bournemouth, and ex-Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley has warned supporters at his former club to expect more of the same going forward.

Speaking about Jackson on ESPN FC after the game, Burley said: “He’s OK and he’s definitely had his moments this year, but we’ll see more of those misses that we saw from that header that was saved. We’ll see more of that than we will of the really good Nico Jackson.”

Jackson’s performance brought a mixed reaction from Chelsea fans, with some feeling that he played well, while others were not too impressed.

How many big chances did Nicolas Jackson miss against Bournemouth?

Jackson was the Chelsea player to set up Palmer for his goal, but the 23-year-old really should have finished the match with more than one assist to his name.

He had an xG of 1.11 and missed three big chances in total, a stat the centre-forward will not want to be reminded of.

At one stage, it did not look like Chelsea needed to sign a new striker in January and could wait until the summer. But with Jackson struggling for form at the moment and Christopher Nkunku being linked with a move away from the club, things look a bit different now.

Liam Delap is reportedly open to joining Chelsea this month, so the Ipswich Town player could be one option for the Blues.
