Graham Potter has raved about the quality of Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who was actually linked with Chelsea in the recent summer transfer window.

Toney, 26, is a striker that’s been on absolute fire recently.

The English centre-forward is really making his mark in the Premier League this season, scoring eight goals in 10 appearances. It means he’s third in the league’s golden boot race, with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane the only players in the division to score more than him.

Brentford’s frontman will be looking to add to his individual tally on Wednesday night when he plays at home to Chelsea.

Potter raved about Toney

Chelsea boss Potter will have been trying to work out ways before tonight’s match to stop the threat of Brentford’s No.17.

“Ivan Toney as a centre forward is as dangerous as anybody in the league in his way,” Potter said.

Toney has been part of the England group without yet earning his first international cap, so a lot of people are wondering if he’ll be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup next month.

It seems an absolute no-brainer for the Three Lions to pick the confident striker when he’s in this form.

It’s interesting to note that Chelsea were reportedly keen on signing Toney back in the summer when Thomas Tuchel was still the manager.

The Mirror claimed in August that the Blues were considering a move late in the window for the English target man. Journalist Dean Jones reported in the summer he could cost £50million to sign.

If Toney keeps performing at this rate, you wonder how much Brentford could value their talisman at.

He’s still under contract with the Bees until 2025, but will some of the top teams look to sign him in the future?
