Pundit Daniel Sturridge has claimed that he believes the referees and VAR made a huge error during last night’s Chelsea vs Tottenham game.
He told Sky Sports he believes Moises Caicedo’s long-distance strike should have stood late in the first half, which would have levelled the game at the time.
Caicedo thought that he had scored his first goal for the club when he hammered in with his weak foot from distance.

However, it emerged that the officials had decided that Nicolas Jackson had impeded the view of the goalkeeper, which remained the point of view after a lengthy VAR check.
Sturridge however is not convinced the officials came to the right decision at the end of it.
Sturridge critical of VAR decision
He said: “This one for me, it should’ve stood. When we’re talking about a shot from distance, the goalkeeper – I don’t think Jackson’s really blocked his view that bad. The distance between Jackson and the goalkeeper is quite big as well so I think this is a goal.
“Fortunately for Chelsea they did have the penalty opportunity anyway but they would’ve been devastated if that goal wouldn’t of stood and then they wouldn’t of got the pen.”
Enzo Fernandez had been left rolling around on the floor after a reckless tackle from Cristian Romero in the box moments before this, and after disallowing the goal the referee eventually gave a penalty and sent the Argentinian off.
This helped Cole Palmer make it three from three from the spot this season, sending Chelsea on their way to a memorable 4-1 win.
Whether it will be memorable for the right reasons in weeks to come will remain to be seen, with the Blues certainly making hard work of their nine opponents on the pitch in the second half before Jackson hit a hat-trick.
