Danny Murphy suggests Raheem Sterling will emerge as a huge player at Chelsea this season as one of their leaders.
It’s been a positive start to the new campaign for Raheem Sterling, delivering some eye-catching performances to help cement his spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues line-up.
The 28-year-old attacker scored twice and assisted another goal in Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League win at home to Luton Town on Friday night.
Hopefully, Blues fans are now starting to watch the version of him that has been a huge success with England’s national team and Manchester City in recent years.

BBC pundit Murphy was left waxing lyrical about Sterling following his recent display in the Premier League.
When discussing Sterling on BBC’s Match of the Day, Murphy said: “I’m delighted for him. He looks absolutely electric. I think he’s a wonderful player. He’s going to be a huge leader for them this season with such a young squad, him and the likes of Thiago Silva.”
Elsewhere, Shaun Wright-Phillips claimed on Instagram that Sterling looked “on fire” in the Luton victory.
The forward definitely adds some much-needed dynamism to the frontline when he’s fit and firing.

Aside from veteran Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva, Sterling has been the oldest member of the Chelsea side in the opening three weeks of the season.
There’s no doubt that this very young group of players can learn a lot from someone like him.
It’s obvious Chelsea are crying out for someone to step forward as a real talisman that can score and assist on a regular basis. There’s certainly no reason why that can’t be Sterling as well!
We hope he can keep up this early-season momentum in this week’s games against AFC Wimbledon (cup) and Nottingham Forest (league) before the September international break.
