Darren Bent could only find room for one Chelsea player in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.
Chelsea have made an eye-catching start to the new season, picking up 14 points from seven games to sit fourth in the Premier League table during the international break.
However, Cole Palmer is the only Chelsea representative in Darren Bent’s early Team of the Season.
So far, the Blues attacker has been on fire in the league, scoring six goals and creating five assists. He’s quickly put to bed suggestions that his debut year last season was a one-off.

Cole Palmer in early Team of the Season, Marc Cucurella just misses out
TalkSPORT pundit Bent has recognised the early brilliance of Chelsea’s Palmer in the 2024/25 campaign.
When naming his Premier League Team of the Season so far, Bent told talkSPORT: “I’ve got two 10s. One is Cole Palmer. Six goals, five assists. He’s been absolutely brilliant.”
Afterwards, Bent admitted that Blues left-back Marc Cucurella narrowly missed out on the Team of the Season.
He added: “Cucurella is another one. I was close to putting him in, but then I thought of Antonee Robinson.”
Darren Bent’s XI
- David Raya (Arsenal)
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
- Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
- Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal)
- Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
- Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)
- Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
- Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
- Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)
- Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
- Luis Diaz (Liverpool)
Marc Cucurella has turned things around
Chelsea paid £60m (BBC) to sign Cucurella from Brighton back in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately, he had to deal with a lot of criticism for a long time because he struggled for form in west London.
It’s fair to say that the aggressive left-back has overcome his struggles and is now shining in Chelsea colours.
The 26-year-old defender has started every league game this season, returning in the summer in great spirits after helping Spain to win Euro 2024.
Incidentally, Cucurella has already picked up five bookings to mean he’s suspended for Chelsea’s trip to Anfield to play Liverpool on 20 October.
