The latest transfer saga gripping Chelsea fans in this hectic summer window is involving Joao Felix.

Blues fans may have been shocked in the last few days to see their club linked with Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix, who’s well known to them after previously spending time on loan at Stamford Bridge in 2023.

There’s currently a really large Chelsea squad in the building after so many transfers, but it sounds like the recruitment team aren’t quite done yet.

O Jogo reports that Atletico have received Chelsea’s opening offer for Felix. There’s no agreement in place yet between the two sides, but the player himself is open to the idea of returning to West London.

Darren Bent verdict on Joao Felix

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent doesn’t sound too optimistic when reacting to rumours that Chelsea are attempting to re-sign Felix.

“With Joao Felix, his debut last time was against Fulham and he got sent off but he looked really good before that,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“I like Joao Felix, I think he’s such a talented footballer but for whatever reason, there always seems to be something missing.

“But I watched him in the Euros against Georgia and he had some nice touches but when you need to score a goal or create something, it’s not there.

“Chelsea fans will be looking at it and thinking, ‘do we really want him back?’ Who would you rather play as number 10, him or Cole Palmer? It’s not even close.”

Chelsea after their third Portuguese player this window

Chelsea have great ties to Portugal over the years. For instance, legendary manager Jose Mourinho is Portuguese, while previous players include Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira.

It’s been interesting to see the Blues recruit two Portuguese players already this summer.

Renato Veiga and Pedro Neto have both signed at the Bridge in this window. Could they be about to be joined by fellow countryman Felix, too?
