Darren Bent has just made his prediction on where he thinks Chelsea will finish in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea only finished sixth in the Premier League last season under Mauricio Pochettino, which means it’s now two years since they ended up inside the top four. Now, Blues head coach Enzo Maresca is tasked with trying to get Champions League football back at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking via The Rest Is Football before the campaign started, Gary Lineker predicted Chelsea would completely miss on European football. So far, they have four points from their opening three league matches to make it an inconsistent start.

Darren Bent prediction on Chelsea
TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent is predicting that Chelsea are going to end up finishing fourth in the Premier League despite all the turbulence at the club.
Bent told talkSPORT (5:36pm, 3 September): “Fourth – Chelsea. I just think look at the firepower they have got. It’s a bit of a basketcase, but I have seen the sample sizes, like the Wolves result away from home 6-2. I know they drew 1-1 with Palace, but they have won one, lost one and drawn one.
“I feel that once Maresca has got his settled team now that the window has closed, no incoming and no outgoings and all that, a settled squad, I feel like they will finish in the top four.”
Chelsea have attacking firepower
Even without signing a clinical striker this summer, the Blues still have enough players in their squad to share the load as an attacking force.
We’re hopeful that the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku all hit double digits for goals this term. The same could be said for teammates such as Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho, too.
Here is a look at the top scoring sides from the opening three rounds of Premier League fixtures…
- Manchester City – 9
- Liverpool – 7
- Chelsea – 7
- Brighton – 6
- Tottenham – 6
- Arsenal – 5
- Brentford -5
- Bournemouth – 5
If Chelsea can just tighten up defensively, which should happen the more the backline plays together, there’s enough going forward to make the 2024/25 season a positive one.
