Cole Palmer must be getting used to the spotlight by now because everything he does for Chelsea and England is widely discussed.
The real intrigue going into the 2024/25 season was over whether or not Cole Palmer could repeat the magic from his debut year at Chelsea. So far, the answer to that has been pretty emphatic.
The Blues attacker scored 25 goals and created 15 assists for them last season. Now, he’s already got seven goals and five assists in 10 Premier League matches this term.
Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola explained he’s impressed by Palmer, which is high praise from one technical playmaker to another.

Darren Bent wants more from Cole Palmer in the biggest Chelsea games
TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has offered some constructive criticism on Chelsea’s Palmer by claiming that he can still contribute more in the biggest matches.
Bent told talkSPORT: “He’s a lovely footballer, but I think against the very best, I think that’s where we need to see the best of him. He’s such a talented player.”
Palmer’s failed to score or assist in the league fixtures with Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United so far this season. Therefore, it’s definitely an area to improve for the Blues talisman.
Dion Dublin said every Chelsea player tried to find Palmer in the weekend’s Man United draw, so they must be wary of not becoming a one-man team.
Cole Palmer record against the ‘big six’
Palmer scored for England in the final of Euro 2024, so he’s no stranger to the biggest stage, but he’s going to be scrutinised very closely at every moment because he’s a special talent.
Here is a look at how the attacking midfielder has performed against the biggest sides in England during his time in Chelsea colours:
| Opponent | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Arsenal | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| Liverpool | 3 | 0 | 0 |
| Manchester City | 4 | 1 | 0 |
| Manchester United | 3 | 4 | 0 |
| Tottenham | 2 | 1 | 1 |
As shown above, Palmer’s definitely made an impact in some of Chelsea’s biggest games since the start of last season. He’s just had a bit of a slower start in that regard this campaign.
The Blues host rivals Arsenal this Sunday in their final match before the international break, so it could be a great chance for Palmer to shine.
