Chelsea are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Enzo Maresca on the first day of 2026.

The Blues have made the decision to move on from Maresca despite him delivering two trophies and a return to Champions League football in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea took their time before officially announcing the departure, with having candidates lined up to replace him no doubt high on their list of things to do.

It has previously been reported that Chelsea have at least four managers on their list to potentially replace the Italian, with one of those being Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

Oliver Glasner ruled out of Chelsea job after Enzo Maresca sacking

After winning the FA Cup last season, he looks set to leave Selhurst Park when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, it will not be Stamford Bridge where he carries on his managerial career. David Ornstein has already ruled out him replacing Maresca at Chelsea.

He said: “Chelsea & Enzo Maresca part company – head coach leaves with immediate effect. Position deemed untenable. Chelsea expect to name replacement from small number of candidates in next few days; Rosenior contender, Glasner not in frame.”

Chelsea eyeing up Liam Rosenior

The Blues admire Liam Rosenior following the work he has done at fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg over the past couple of years.

The Ligue 1 side finished top of the Conference League group stages, and have been utilising a number of Chelsea’s top youngsters, including Mike Penders.

It has been reported Rosenior is an early favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge, however questions will be asked about his experience at the top and whether it is worthy of the Chelsea job.

The decision to sack Maresca will not be a popular one amongst the fanbase, and the Blues really need to get this decision right.
