Dean Ashton claimed he really loved watching the performance of Joao Felix in Chelsea’s draw against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea’s underwhelming string of results continued on the weekend by playing out a 1-1 draw away to West Ham. It means they’ve now recorded three consecutive draws in the Premier League.

Felix had a really positive impact on the game by scoring twice, albeit one was chalked off by VAR for an offside.

The 23-year-old’s goal that did stand was an immaculate volley when he got on the end of Enzo Fernandez’s cross.

Despite Chelsea’s dominance of the ball for large spells, ex-Blues man Emerson Palmieri scored an equaliser for the hosts.

TalkSPORT pundit Dean Ashton thinks Felix was the real star of the show in Chelsea against West Ham.

“He’s (Felix) been the best player on the pitch,” Ashton told talkSPORT.

“He gets his goal because he just keeps drifting off the back of the midfield players and the back three don’t know whether to come out and mark him.

“He drifts into a lovely position, makes a lovely late run. Fernandez just has a brief look and feeds it into an area.

“Felix has been picking up some brilliant positions, almost making sure he can’t be seen. I love the way he’s playing so far.”

Described as “top quality” by Ian Wright for his weekend display, Felix ticked so many boxes with his contribution at the London Stadium.

He’s looked like the team’s biggest goal threat in the two matches he’s played in the Premier League, so let’s hope he can get a string of starts now in the weeks ahead.

It really suits him slotting into the No.10 position and drifting into pockets of space in the final third.

Chelsea fans will be wary of falling in love with a loan player because he’s still owned by Atletico Madrid.
